My wife wants to get me a gun for Christmas, I'm wanting something smaller to carry and fairly cheap to leave in the truck when not carrying. I know it's not a glock, Springfield XD or 1911, like I said I'm wanting something on the cheap side.

Any experiences with this gun?

I have one. I like it, a lot. Smooth firing little pistol.

Ruger recently released the Ruger 9E. It is the best affordable gun you can buy, with an street price a little over $300. It is built on the same mechanics as their successful SR9 but costs them less to make and they only send one mag. It is a fantastic gun.

EDIT: Just noticed you said you may carry it. If you intend to carry the gun, spend a bit more and get something more rugged and reliable for carry. If the gun is to stay in your car, get a full sized gun since you are not limited on size. The 9E fits that bill just fine.

For a carry gun that can possibly stay in your car, I would highly recommend the single stack S&W M&P Shield. It is an awesomely reliable little gun.

Trigger pull is pretty heavy for a woman.

CZ or a Ruger would be a better option.
