Nothing happens until Harbaugh and SF are eliminated on Sunday from playoff contention

Once that happens the GM will start entertaining offers for Harbaugh, then the Harbaugh to Michigan stuff will go away and the search will move on

Miles can easily confer with his friends around Hackett without anyone knowing. I suspect the negotiation with Bass is already complete and if they offer Miles it will all happen quickly

Yup, that's the climate of things. Hope our recruits stick with us. A new coach is what we need but one that excites the fanbase and the talent pool.

Miles is just being Miles. The silence is to create drama. Scare Alleva into giving him a new contract.

If I were Alleva I would tell him to take the job or reject it by Friday.

Even Dan Patrick can see through Miles whom he said of the Arkansas caper was foolish and deceptive. Dan thinks coaches under contract should not test the market.

Miles loves to be coy and cute and tell half truths during this annual coach hiring season. It is getting old.

whatever, Dan...if you don't want your coach under contract to test the market, put wording in the contract. If it isn't in the contract, they should be able to do what they want within the terms of the contract.

Put in a non complete clause. If they ever end up having to play each other, the team that hired the coach away would have to forfeit.

Brilliant

I don't know of anyone who thinks that or has said such.

I am still waiting for someone to tell me who LSU can get, a real choice and not a pipe dream, who is a sure shot winner of 80% of his games if Miles goes.

If I have to pick between a guy who has never won big in the SEC but "might" be able to do it and a guy who has won big, I will take the guy who has proved he can do it every time.

So Dan Patrick hates capitalism?

Alleva does make me uneasy. This should be an easier hire since LSU football will attract more favorable prospects than basketball.

well, trent johnson is coaching one of only 8 teams that are undefeated in basketball right now. t.c.u. is ranked. maybe Joe know's coaches,.

Johnny Jones and the softball coach appear to be turning their programs around.

Nicki appears to be a bust here but was a home run at u.c.l.a

Miles is about to bring in the second best recruiting class he's signed at LSU, to pair with the signing class he brought in last year -- the best he's ever signed.

Has the OC in place that he sees eye to eye with, has a top 5 DC in place, coaches in the SEC and gets paid $4.5 million to do it.

But he's going to 5 win Michigan?

To be fair, no one could have answered that before we got Miles either. You can't guarantee the future.

To be fair, Miles hasn't won 80% of his games in a season in half of the time he's been here. His numbers are bolstered by his first 3 years going 11-2, 11-2, 12-2. In his next 7 seasons he has had 2 seasons where he has hit your 80% mark. Even still, he's had great seasons in that 7 year span. But if we're judging a new coach by an 80% mark, we haven't had a coach for the last 7 years do that.

I hate any talk about overall winning% or number of wins. We now play four OOC games a year, and three are typically rent a wins...throw in the occasional beat down of Kentucky or Vandy and you can get to four wins on talent alone. I would be more concerned about your coach's record versus meaningful competition. This is why Pelini got tossed.

I would have bet serious money on LSU having won at lease 85% of its games in 2010 and 2o11. Even 82% of their games from 2010 -2013.

I've said this very thing and gotten blasted. Take out the cupcake games and tell me the win percentage. A Nicholls State type team will most likely never beat an LSU team.

here's the flaw in your thinking.....everybody plays cupcakes. Many teams even more than LSU

so it you take the cupcakes out of LSUs schedule...you have to take them out of everyones. and LSUs win % will still be near the top

No matter which side of the fence you're on, the 'I think les will stay or go' threads have all been done already and your idea is neither original nor interesting

Since most SEC teams play the same type of OOC schedule and we all play an 8 game SEC schedule with 4 SEC road games, I would offer that over a 3-5 yr period we all, pretty much, play the same meaningful competition.

Now, other conferences, maybe not so much.

That's why a 100% regular season OOC record and a 70% winning record in the strongest college conference around speaks so highly of SEC/LSU football.
