Oh, just realized that must mean we get Tiago back

And Mills won't be back for another month and a half, at least, iirc.

And Pop will be pissed that it wasn't a 23 point margin or greater

The Spurs will easily win this game. I can see both sides of the argument though. Popovich wants to rest players. But the NBA wouldn't be making money if every team did this for nationally televised games.

A ton of teams would love to do it, but they just can't pull it off especially considering how competitive the West is.

Dwight Howard most likely out for tonights game. This is frustrating, because if the Warriors win, we still don't know exactly how they'd matchup with the Rockets come playoff time.

That's the key. SA's reserves are good enough for us to get away with it.

Notice Pop didn't do this as much 5-6 years ago, even though it would have been arguably just as beneficial. Just didn't have the horses.

The starters were also younger back then.

I love it. If we lose, it's expected. If we win, I'm pumped.

Jones, Canaan, and Papanikolaou also out.

Nah, I'm talking 2009-2011ish. Timmy looked done, and Ginobili was always hurt. We didn't have the depth then, though. Not with Keith Bogans, Michael Finley, Richard Jefferson, and the like coming off the bench. Hell, our best bench player (excluding Manu) was George Hill, who had his limitations.

It is a testament to Pop and that whole staff there in SA to develop these guys like they do is amazing to see.

A lot of it is also due to just how y'all play. It is much easier to plug in guys when you aren't reliant on much 1 on 1 basketball. Then you throw in the guys that can create matchup problems like Timmy, Parker, Manu, and Leonard and you can see why y'all are so damn good.

It seriously feels like we stole a Spurs player. He plays exactly like a Pop-coached player.

What I love about him is that he wasn't a star in Europe. He was popular, but he has always been a glue guy. Bringing a great glue player from Europe is better than bringing a star who you try to make a glue guy in the NBA.

Very true. Teach guys a system, and they become cogs in a machine more than the crux of the offense. Hurts their career numbers and likely keeps them from getting personal accolades like MVPs and such, but extends their careers and keeps you competitive when the injury bug bites.

Gotta credit the front office, though. Players have to buy in personality wise, and that's tough at this level.

Seems like a lot of teams are starting to trend that way, though. Good for the sport. You'll always have your stars, but bball is a team game at the end of the day.

I forget about all of the times I thought the Spurs were done. Never again. The Spurs aren't done until the are eliminated in my eyes.
