I know that none of us are talking about the NFC South title scenarios because we're all so demoralized after the worst loss of the Payton/Brees era and being 5-8 just flat out sucks... hard to get pumped up. Especially when Atlanta is so clearly trending up and we're so clearly trending meh.

Atlanta now holds the tiebreaker (even if we beat them in Week 16), correct?

Meaning that if Atlanta beats Pittsburgh and Carolina and we lose to either Chicago or Tampa Bay the Falcons would take the South?

Correct. We cannot finish with the same record.

We have to go 3-0 to make the playoffs and then the ship.

But I'd rather have the #9 pick (or better)

Atlanta is currently getting 2 points at home versus Pittsburgh.

It might be my favorite play of the week. I'll probably wait until kickoff to pull the trigger b/c I want to see if Julio Jones and William Moore are green-lighted.

I pick Atlanta to win outright

If the Saints beat Atlanta, but lose to Tampa and the Bears, they could still win the division if Atlanta were to lose out.

A win by either NO or ATL (which is all but guaranteed) eliminates Tampa.

If Carolina loses the next two and then beat ATL in the final game, then the Saints would go.

It is pretty crazy to think that New Orleans could go 2-6 in the second half of the season and still win the division as long as they beat Atlanta.

Not seeing it.

Their D is as bad as the Saints if not worse

But their O is much better than the Saints

Still don't see it

Saints win next 2 (@ CHI, vs. ATL)... that's 7-8

Falcons split next 2 (vs. PIT, @ NO)... that's 6-9

Panthers win next 2 (vs. TB, vs. CLE)... that's 6-8-1

Saints would have to win @ TB to win division in that scenario... lose and winner of CAR @ ATL wins division I believe

let's say they all split... that's 6-9 for the Saints, 6-9 for the Falcons, 5-9-1 for CAR... Saints would have to win @ TB and hope the Panthers can win in ATL... Falcons would have tiebreaker over Saints...

either 2-0 in head-to-head vs. NO

OR

div. record (ATL 5-1 vs. NFCS vs. NO 4-2 vs. NFCS)

edit: if CAR wins next 2 and Saints split... then we can get mad at Cincy's K again for allowing that tie as that would be a big reason we'd be eliminated

statistically... the Saints have the 31st ranked D in the NFL...

the Falcons have the 32nd

I don't really agree with this.

LINK

They do not run the ball well at all.

Some efficiency stats - Per Drive
Yards - Saints 40.08 (1) vs ATL 33.76 (9)
Pts - Saints 2.42 (7) vs ATL 2.21 (10)
TOs - Saints .152 (25) vs ATL .134 (20)

DSR represents Drive Success Rate, as introduced in Pro Football Prospectus 2005, which measures the percentage of down series that result in a first down or touchdown. Take-a-knee drives at the end of a half are discarded.

DSR - Saints 2nd, Atl 12th

we should keep an eye on today's injury reports (Saints don't release 1 until tomorrow for MNF)... CAR just officially announced Anderson as the starter vs. TB (no shocker) and Julio Jones status vs. PIT will be very interesting (fairly certain he got hurt at end of game @ GB)

Look guys chill. Saints are just a measley 7 game winning streak from another Super Bowl title.

No biggie.

Atlanta won't beat PIT. Here's how I see ATL finishing:

PIT: L
@NO: L
CAR: W (toss up maybe depending on Cam now).

I have no idea about the Saints but win this week and win against ATL and you win the South. This is what I think (and hope) will happen.

Yep. We're actually statistically the 1 team worse than NO (through this week). Y'all have the #31 ranked overall D. ATL is at #32.

Probably not, but they certainly have a shot. We blew them out.

Atlanta is 3-3 over the last 6 with a loss by 1 to Detroit (should have won), a loss to Cleveland by 2 (should have won), and a loss to Green Bay by 6.

I was going to say 3-2 over the last 5, but I think the Detroit game was one of the best games i've watched either the Saints or Atl play.

Both teams lost the game, but both teams completely outplayed a quality opponent.

All of that insane luck that Atlanta had in 2012 has abandoned the frick out of them the past 2 years. They are even more snakebit than the Saints have been
