Don't just disregard it because of its title. The writer makes some valid points, IMO. Many more points than the typical Jesse/Al blabbering or the left-wing intellectuals.

If you're a tl;dr guy, don't even bother.

Will not read. This may well be a valid piece but his previous blatherings on race are enough for me to ignore him now.

The marriage of capitalism to incarceration is as destructive as Ike and Tina, as unethical as Bonnie and Clyde, as immoral as Woody and Soon Yi, and as stupid as Bobby and Whitney.

Quote of the fricking year.

The funny part is when someone says this about Whitlock I can never tell whether they're left-wing or right-wing.

Whitlock authored an article several years ago on how black college athletes should be compensated for their efforts on the field and court. It's noteworthy that he didn't say poor athletes but designated those deserving the payment by race. So a black college athlete such as Kellen Winslow Jr, who lived a life of privilege due to his father's NFL success, would be more deserving by virtue of his race than a poor white kid.

After he was called out on his obvious infatuation with race he wrote a second article replacing the race references with more socioeconomic ones.

I hate to bump something this shitty that slipped to page 2, but I couldn't resist.

Whitlock writes about his cousin, who (you guessed it) didn't do 'nuffin wrong and would've been a lawyer if the white man hadn't slayed him.

Read this about the "innocent" cousin:

quote:

A high dose of cocaine, not a deputy's stun gun, killed a man who died in the custody of the Marion County Sheriff's Department, toxicology tests showed.

Two off-duty deputies observed a possible drug deal in the parking lot of the Bethel Townhomes in the 3000 block of Baltimore Avenue the night of May 1.

When they approached one of the men, Anton Butler, 28, he shoved drugs into his mouth and ran, police said.

LINK

It has gotten to the point that if a white authority figure told a black that the sky was blue, the black would call the white man a fricking liar.
