Heading to San Fran for the first time this spring. Looking for a nice, centrally located (close to public transportation) place that won’t totally break the bank (looking to spend $200-300 a night). Staying six or seven nights. Some places that I was looking at are The Fairmont Hotel, The Orchard Hotel, The Orchard Garden Hotel, and the Best Western Plus at Tuscan Inn by the wharf. Anyone have any experiences with these or any other places they would recommend? It will be just my wife and I.

Look around Union Square.

Parc 55 Wyndham in downtown San Fran is a great place to stay. It's a short walk to the BARTS terminal, good food and great shopping

The Westin St. Francis is solid.

Villa Florence near Union Square, on trolley line and easy walk to shopping.
