Would you buy?
Looking for nothing more than a snake gun to carry while squirrel hunting

Nope, get a heritage revolver

Nope.
Ruger Mk3 or 22/45 is a much better 22 pistol.
If you plan to shoot shotshells in it, a 22 revolver would suffice.

Mamoutiga,
I guess I'll be contrary today: If you're looking for an inexpensive, tiny, DAO, 22LR semi-auto pistol and aren't bothered by the idea of it being a "Taurus", then get it. I currently own 3 Taurus handguns (all revolvers in 44 Spec, 22LR and 38 Spec +P). I shoot the 22LR extensively and use it as a starter gun if I'm giving handgun shooting instructions. Despite the Taurus hate, I've been very pleased w/ all the Taurus handguns I own. Everyone of them have lived up to my needs and expectations. Given the chance, I'd buy each of them again. Having said that, a revolver/single action might serve your needs better if you plan on shooting "snake shot". Not all semi-auto's handle snake shot well. Of course, since it does have the tip up barrel you could always load the rounds manually, one at a time.

Look at the GSG .22. Sweet little semi auto .22 if you're looking to go the SA route.

This, or a Walther P22. Tough to beat either one.
