Who gives a shite? Your DC is supposed to adjust schemes based on player strengths which is an obvious foreign concept to Rob Ryan. Buffalo loses Byrd and the guy who came in behind him this season was doing really well. What's that tell you in Buffalo? Coaching and scheme.
It's not like Byrd is some scrub. The dude was an amazing player in Buffalo. When you're sitting 20 yards off the ball each snap it's hard to show your strengths when you're a ballhawking S like him. Kinda hard to make plays when the ball is thrown without a DB in sight for 10-15 yards.

I'm with you on that one. The Jean-Baptiste pick was completely befuddling to me. I get it, he's a big cornerback and Seattle abused us with physical play in the secondary twice in 2013. But I was hoping to see a LB in the 2nd because that was one place we had issues last year, stopping the run.
I see a lot of people saying this now that he turned out to be a bust. I remember a LOT of people being pretty satisfied with this pick. He was one of the best available CBs at the time.

Whoever is responsible for DB picks should be slapped with a bag of dicks. We are fricking horrible drafting DBs. Patrick Robinson, JB, Malcolm Jenkins, White, Kenny Vacaroo...my god. KV actually looked good last year but might be one of if not the worst player on defense this year. I'm just going to chalk that up to Ryan not using him correctly because he's definitely not being used like he was last year.
But yeah, scouts...or whoever is responsible for DB evaluations and defensive draft in general needs to go. How many good defensive players have we drafted over the years? Jordan? Even he sucks this year.
The Saints do better with low draft picks and undrafted FA than they do with high picks...

Vaccaro was obviously talented. He look slow as shite this year.
White was a 5th round pick.
