Regardless, Notre Dame is a BIG name and thats all I wanted in an opponent

We gain nothing by playing a small school who treats a matchup vs LSU like their program's biggest game ever. We wouldn't care to be there and we'd take them lightly. (boise state, Utah, Minnesota..whoever)
Notre Dame is a huge name although they dropped off quickly this year. We have 4 losses, we cant expect anything too marquis. However, a bowl game against ND, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Clemson etc is all I wanted. Even though it isn't the best bowl it is two big-time programs and will be an attractive event nationally IMO.

I agree. Not a bad matchup as far as playing against a big name school but I would have rather played Texas in Houston. Also playing at 2pm on a Tuesday is a real downer and makes it less attractive/exposure nationally.

Bullcrap...Its NOTRE DAME... More people will watch this game than the LSU/Texas game...
Beating ND in ANY bowl means exposure... Even at 2 on a Tuesday afternoon..........

This is a more intriguing matchup than playing another shite B1G team again. Hell worse bowl, but I would argue that I am looking forward to this over Iowa from last year.

The entire country will be at work dumb frick; Texas bowl is 8pm prime time; Id love to take you up on a bet of which game will have higher ratings

Notre Dame will draw attention that most teams can't match. It was about as good a match up as could be expected.

I usually try to watch all the bowls since love CFB but would not see this one due to the hours. Of course with Tigers in will make a effort to either take off or have radio at work, but his point is it will take an effort for someone to watch at this shitty time otherwise game will go un noticed by 3/4 the country!

It's the Holidays...take the day off for crying out loud.

What about say in my case starting a new job do not have hours accumulated at this point to take paid vacation?

In regard to exposure there is no question a primetime matchup would be more beneficial. ND bcs of a national fan base may get the game a higher than normal afternoon rating, we will not likely get the normal football fan and casual fan that the game may have gotten if played when more people were actually at home.
To me though regardless of the brand of ND, what I was hoping for in a matchup was a team that would present a challenge to our staff and players to improve.
My dream match up would have been a team that excelled at stopping the run, and since we had three weeks to prepare we would work on becoming a bit more efficient in the passing game and a bit more balanced on O and get both QB's some meaningful snaps.
We can run the ball 50 times and beat ND but would it show any offensive improvement?

This is a good bowl match-up for LSU this season, IMHO.
There will be national interest in ND vs LSU. Of course, if kick off were at 7:00pm, there would be even more interest.
LSU will wear the white jerseys and ND will wear dark blue or green. It will be a visually appealing spectacle that will capture some national interest.
Of course, for the many faithful and ardent LSU football fans that travel well to the bowl games, this bowl game in Nashville at 2pm stinks compared to playing in a prime-time game in Houston.

Agree. The team will get up for this game and it should be fun to put it on the Irish one more time.

This. I probably won't be able to get off work in time.
