How great thou Art!

What coach in his position wouldn't vote his team in top 4? Now Bama 4th puzzles me too.

What is the point of the coaches' poll, besides to see the hilarity of the picks?

well it's not like this poll had any effect whatsoever in who made it to the playoffs

Best part of the new system is that the abomination that is the Coaches Poll doesn't matter any more.

In his position he probably voted FSU #1, Baylor #2, Oregon #3, and Bama #4

Other than the Baylor supposition I think those are reasonable rankings... or at least no more unreasonable than the others being commonly used.

Not really objectionable. The poll doesn't matter anymore and it's not like he put Baylor at #1 and Alabama at #7 and tOSU at #9 or #10 or something like that.

What was Briles trying to do exactly? Is he not aware that the poll in which he votes does not count?

Sway public opinion (and therefore the debates within the committee)

Why is this a big deal? Plenty of people probably had Ohio State 6th. Oregon and FSU over Bama is completely reasonable. So he put his team over Bama. Is that that big a deal?

Is Spurrier still banned from putting Duke on his ballot? That rule completely invalidates the coach's poll in my book. You should be able to rank a preseason ballot however you want--if you're wrong, the results on the field will prove it and you can adjust your ballot accordingly.

Plus it's very reasonable to start Duke at 25 after the past few seasons.

It's well known that this thing they call the coach's poll is really the SID poll.
