I just read this. How can teams compete against juggernot recruiting programs like the top 5 sec schools. Missouri's accomplishment is remarkable.

Between 2011 and 2014 "Missouri signed just 12 players rated 4 stars or better by ESPN's recruiting nation. Just ahead of the Tigers were Mississippi State (15), Kentucky (17), and Vanderbilt (19). Alabama .... signed 76 players of the same caliber in that span." That kind of disparity makes atheletic competition a hypocracy. Competition is nothing more than facilities and reputation. Once you get the players all you have to do is let them lose.....like LSU because their success, albeit limited this year, had nothing to do with coaching. They succeeded in spite of coaching.

Because they recruit players to their systems, which are designed to suit the strengths of those players.

Their systems also preach simple and yet very effective football.

I recall Boise State and their 2 star recruits beating a 5 star laden Oklahoma team. The ability to recruit is a huge advantage, better athletes will more often than not beat lesser athletes, but its not always the deciding factor in a matchup.

How successful did that look during the fourth quarter yesterday? Recruiting well doesn't always mean you have the best starters, it means you have the best three deep.
