Was in a history mood last night. Watched this movie.

After the movie I wiki'ed the real guy. Realized that half of the movie was made up bull shite.

pissed me off that they wrote in a scene where a white southern farmer shoots the guys father in the head. among other things that advances the agenda of racist blacks.

the movie comes off as factual because of the butler that served the administrations through his very honorable career. the movie takes advantage of that.

/end rant

Besides being factually flawed the movie sucked. No ryhthym and horrible dialogue.

I've been having it on my DVR for probably 3 months now, and never found the right time to get around to watching it. I am definitely interested in it for sure, so I hope to check it out soon.

Well, you watched the wrong one, since it's almost entirely fabricated to near Inglourious Basterds levels.

Hollywood has never ever let the facts get in the way of a good saccharine and emotionally-manipulating story.

Because there was all that press about the movie and the actual real life White House butler.

They even made the son into a "Black Forrest Gump." He was literally at every significant Civil Rights event and was even in a hotel room hanging out with MLK.

I like Civil Rights movies generally.

I thought that The Help was really good. 12 Years a Slave was very moving.

The Butler was just an awful movie. Yes, it was made up. That part was bad. But, the movie itself was terrible.

Anything that Oprah is in is terrible. Oprah is a horrible actress.

Yeah, the stretching of the facts here had even the stupidest of mother frickers not believing it. Seems like one hell of a fabrication to have the hero of the so-called biographical picture have his mother and father raped and killed by white farm owners when that never happened to him. They also added more kids to his actual life and fabricated the state he was born in. Really the only fact in this film is that there was a black butler with that name who served in the White House at that time, and that the presidents during that timeline we presidents, and that's it. You can end the similarities there. I laughed my arse off that even the Academy saw through that bullshite and didn't nominate it for a single Oscar. Would have loved to have been a fly on Oprah's wall when she heard that.
