But Florida State eeks out a 3 point win, is Florida State in?

Separation that requires surgery and he will be out for an extended period, i.e. type III separation.

Just curious.

Yes. But if he tears his ACL, and his backup breaks his ankle, no.

More likely that gets arrested on the way to the game.

I would never wish injury on someone.

I just wanted to know where people stand on injuries affecting a team's standing.

they might not be in (at 13-0!!!!!!!!) if they eek out another win like that

Oregon is in. Baylor or TCU is in. Alabama wins they're in

EDIT- they probably will be, but there is that chance. you have to have some kind of margin of victory and look like a dominant team. you shouldn't be top-whatever by being lucky

It'd be stupid if the undefeated defending national champion gets left out of a four-team playoff under any circumstances. It'd be beyond stupid if the undefeated defending national champion gets left out of a four-team playoff behind NO other undefeated teams under any circumstances.

should have no effect IMO outside of affecting the actual game results.

i disagree with this also, honestly. it shouldnt have any huge impact, but it should grant you the benefit of the doubt if necessary.

if 5 teams finish undefeated and one of them is the defending national champion, the other 4 should be fighting it out for 3 spots.

Directly, you're right. Indirectly, they were the best team last year and have shown no reason to know for certain they are not this year. I generally think defending champ doesn't mean much once a team loses. I do think it means something when it is still undefeated.

Florida State wouldn't disclose the severity of his injury or could even leak it being much less serious in order to get in.

Determining worthiness based on injury is a slippery slope (which is a fallacy, but whatever).

Agree, and we're not even talking about five undefeated teams, we're talking about ONE undefeated team and four one-loss teams, which is even worse.

People care too much about how a team looks. Did you win the game or not?

fair enough for people that do not agree with me, but then those same people cannot use the "TCU is the better team right now" when arguing vs. Baylor.
