Speaking of cats

years back a good running buddy of mine was in med school. In some class they dissected a cat. could be a lie but he had a cat scull and a tanned cat head fur. more like a kitten but what they hey.

He was known to not like cats at all. Dog lover but really made his dislike of cats known. so fast forward 6 or 7 years and I invite him and his bride over to my in-laws camp on False River. We are going to you know do the camp weekend thing.

well there is this friendly kitten hanging around and he makes some comments about cats several times over the weekend. We are playing horse shoes early one evening and the kitten is bebobbing all over. There is a set of concrete steps about 5 or six feet behind one of the stakes.

Well we are just drinking beer, playing horse shoes and having a good ole time. The kitty is flitting around the steps and comes to take up a comfortable sit on the first step. My buddy, lets just call him slim, is up to throw and we are on the opposite end from the steps. I throw and then it's his turn. Old Slim lets a beauty go. It hits a shoe on the ground and takes a trajectory about a foot off the ground and phhht. Nails the kitty stone cold dead. purely an accident.

The kids and women go to screaming and wailing. they hollering that ole Slim meant to kill the kitty. It was sad times on the river for bit.
