Pelicans considering sending Russ Smith to D-League

I don't know what there is to consider. The few minutes he's been in the game this season, he's looked completely over whelmed. This should have been done weeks ago, IMO.

It wasn't done earlier because we didn't have any other backup PGs on the roster. With Mekel coming on board, you no longer need him for emergency depth.

I get that, I guess I should have worded it better. I don't get why we waited so long to get an actual backup PG, and thought we could rely on Russ.

I guess I understand that having Jrue plus the three combo guards, you figured that was enough for ball handling, but in hindsight, Russ should have started the year in the D-League, and we should have had another true PG on the roster.
