Tigerdroppings Portfolio/Stock Club

Has it ever been brought up to have a tigerdroppings portfolio, or something similar?
I think it would be cool to maybe select a panel to make decisions (buy/sell/etc) and start with like $100,000. Then check in at the close of 2015 to see what our portfolio is worth, how we fared against the broader markets, etc.
I do not think I am smart enough to track something like this, hell, I'm not sure if this even makes sense. But let me know if something like this would be cool, waste of time, other ideas to make it better, or DIAF.

UGAZ I could see dabbling in now and then, but that is why we would need a board to vote, or something. I don't know, just spitballing here man.
ETA: To hell with penny stocks.

Something similar to what you're proposing was done on here right after the 2008/2009 financial mess. It didn't go very far because only 3 posters (as I recall) participated. It just faded away quickly.
But it's not a bad idea to try again as long as it doesn't turn into a pump & dump type thread, which Chicken would whack with a quickness.

Hell I'd be up for it.
ETA: I'm fairly new around here obviously, but have enjoyed reading everything you guys are doing.

It seems to get proposed in some form or another several times a year but has yet to take off.
I like the idea and would do my best to participate if you could organize it

Yep, not the goal I am shooting for. Maybe set aside $10k or so for "play" so to speak.
I am thinking something like this:
I come before the stock club and say I would like to invest $10k in Microsoft. Although it is close to its 52 week high, I see it going higher next year. Satya Nadella is doing a damn fine job bringing them back.
Or
OK, so XOM and oil stocks are getting hammered. I think we should buy $20k worth.
Just something like that. I don't know, like I said, I have nowhere near the smarts needed to run a spreadsheet like that, just throwing the idea out to see if it sticks.

Play money bro.
I found a simulator on investopedia that starts you with, oddly enough, $100,000. It says you can compete against others.
If anyone has an account there, here is the game

Hahaha oh ok, I gotcha.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking as well- I'm surprised there aren't more fantasy trading sites- where you could create a 'league' to compete against others.

I'd split the 100k evenly between ruples and dinar and just wait. I'm playing the long game here.

Alright, I have an account set up on investopedia and joined some group called "Warren Buffet Million Dollar Challenge". It actually started with $1,000,000.
Should I start an official thread and see what we can get going?
I would not mind at all giving away the login, password, etc, through email that way lurkers couldn't sabotage our portfolio. I didn't have to give personal information and used a fake email.

If I can get a few more of these, I will fire the official thread up and see what we can get going.

In like Flynn in a GB blowout.

What we should have is a stocktrack simulator competition (fake money obviously). Everyone gets $1 million and invests in equities over the course of a year. Winner gets something. There's plenty of programs online. We did it in one of my classes.
