I know it will never happen at LSU, but Frank Wilson is going to get a head coaching gig sooner rather than later. He is one of, if not the top recruiter in the nation, players love him, and has a proven track record of putting RB's in the NFL.

If Miles were to leave, and Wilson goes elsewhere, IMO it is the biggest loss on the coaching staff.

Look, I know he has never even held a coordinator position at the college level, but if we were able to throw money at the OC/DC positions, which we have never had a problem with in the past, I think Wilson could be successful.

Am I crazy?

Not crazy. Those around the program know that Frank Wilson is the COO to Miles' CEO.

He is going to be a star head coach some day. I hope it's at LSU.

Check the other threads asking the same thing. And no, it's not crazy. It's just stupid.

And I really like Frank and hope he stays here.

Ok, I'm crazy. But I will say FW will be a successful HC somewhere (and maybe not at a power 5 conference) in the next 10 years. BOOK IT.

If Frank could take the HC gig and treat it as a position where he is the face of the program and heads the recruiting while hiring guys that are great coordinators and let them do their thing, I could handle it.

He will stay close to the money. Think that will be under Miles' wing.

Crazy.

Maybe they've talked to him about it in the future, but will have to at least have HC experience first. I think LSU has had it's last coordinator promotion (Mike Archer - who was a good coach, maybe better than good, but inexperienced and far too young at the time - again, perspective, isn't even 4 full months older than Les Miles).

Guys are getting coaching gigs younger and I'm not even saying Frank is too young. He's already got the most important part of being a college HFBC down- recruiting - so if you're going to hire a coordinator, RC is the one to promote.

However, LSU is at a point where a known quantity - specifically head coaching success - will be a prerequisite - and keep in mind even a highly qualified head coach is not a guarantor of success in the toughest division in all of CFB (SEC-W is 28-0 against non-conference opposition - aTm lost to Missouri and Arkansas lost to UGA and Missouri - ALL other SEC-W losses were to SEC-W teams - cannibalistic when you think about it.)

Not only will we lose a lot on the inroads with in-state recruits, if he goes elsewhere (he'll be the hottest position coach on the market for any staff) he would pull recruits AWAY from LSU...and with Bama, FSU, and aTm pulling lousisana kids we looking at the '90s again...sigh

Seriously.

There is one of these threads on the CC board everyday.

Does he have an agent pushing this out there?

Let him go be an OC somewhere first.
