I'm very pleased at the fact that the staff is finally making a play for Roquan Smith, kid is an absolute stud! As well as Adonis Thomas, but as of right now it looks as if he's headed to Tuscaloosa!! Arden Key is a big time need as well! We need to go all in on some of the talent that is uncommitted over there. Some names that haven't been mentioned a whole lot...

Chidi Valentine-Okeke OT (just got reclassified to 2015 and related to Travonte Valentine)LINK

D'Andre Walker DE (Reminds me of Keke Mingo) LINK

Quart'e Sapp OLB LINK

Joshua Thomas ILB LINK

Most prospects are probably evaluated and then further recruited based on a cost benefit analysis taking into consideration their actual interest level.

Unfortunately, it's hard to recruit kids in GA. YOu've got so many schools coming in there and kids are very exposed to Alabama, Auburn, UGA, GTech, UF and others. LSU isn't really on their mind. Just a hard state to get in to without a feeder school.

Yes he went to the same HS as Travonte in Florida...Champagnat Catholic, but just recently moved to Georgia and got reclassified as a 2015 because he was a 2016 before

I know where he was at, but that doesn't mean they're related.

ETA: And we were recruiting him until his handler moved him to Georgia. Pretty sure that's when we stopped.

Clemson, Tennessee, Auburn have the most success in GA other than UGA. Vandy was for a while with Franklin as well.

LSU has gotten some very good players from that state.
Mett, Riley, Sheppard, T-Bob, Minter, JC, Vadal, Redi Ferguson

But we have also gone in there and gotten some real duds or unproven guys to date:
Andy Dodd, Jennings, Cam Fordham, Brandon Worle, Drayton Calhoun, Derrick Bryant, Cordian Hagan, Steve Singleton...

Our baseball program is the one that really needs to kill this area...and they are doing great at it with the studs from Cartersville and Parkview recently (even though one fizzled out as a meth dealer before getting to campus thankfully)

ETA: Added Reid Ferguson to the appropriate category. Initially got sidetracked with work tasks.

So, our 4 year starting long snapper is a dud? Also not sure why you put Andy Dodd in that category either as a redshirt freshman on the offensive line that's already seen action and shown versatility.

Eta: or Derrick Bryant, who only sat behind about 7 guys in the nfl now, but still contributed when called upon.

I meant to include Reid in the other category...sorry...doing multiple things...and I believe the second category also included the word unproven.

To be fair...both Dodd and jennings would fit more into the unproven portion of that category than the dud...they have only been there two years. The only difference is Jennings has not shown any improvement from the time he got there to date.

Minter is the best I can remember from UGA. I may be sleeping on people though.

In know. Just wanted to get the stache up in here.

We get a lot of 3-4 star talent out of Georgia considering the distance. For example, Vadal Alexander is from GA (admittedly, he was a Katrina transplant).

Texas and Florida are also hotbeds. We are doing fine in all three states.

I agree...our presence in Buford seems to be very consistent and we have good luck with the progression of those kids. Atlanta area is so deep with talent.

Peveto and Brick have the Georgia connections on staff.

Peveto especially.

He's signed some good ones from the area, and also some duds
