dstone12,
I've got 2 Kel-Tecs, a PT-3AT and a PF9. I've been pleased w/ both and haven't had a lick of problems from them. Yeah, they're not pretty and they look pretty cheap, but mine have fulfilled their purpose. I bought both long before there was an OB. KT's catch a lot of grief, some of it is deserved, but some of it not. If you'll carefully search a number of handgun/self-defense boards you'll find that while there are some unhappy KT owners, there are also a lot of happy KT owners. I don't carry the 380 much (because I'm not fond of the 380 as a self defense round, not because of the gun), but I carry the PF9 a lot, especially in the pockets of cargo shorts during the summer.

I don't have a P-11, but I handled one before buying the PF9. The P11 didn't naturally handle as well for me as did the PF9. Most people describe the PF9 as having a better trigger. There's also a new extended mag available for the PF9 that boosts the capacity to 8 rounds.

When I bought my PF9, there were not many single stack, small 9mms available; no Shield, Kahr CW9, Ruger LC9, Kimber Solo, Sig 250, Beretta Nano or SA XDS, to name a few.

Nowdays, given a choice between the Shield, CM9, P11 or PF9, I'd prob get the Kahr if I could pay the extra money. I think the CM9 would work better w/ pocket carry than would the Shield.

If you get a KT, please acquaint yourself w/ the Kel-Tec Owner's Group Forum, especially the "Fluff and Buff" forum.

Shield 9mm for $350

Or

Kahr cw9 for $300?

I don't have either of these, but I do have a CW45. The guns you mentioned have significant differences (Striker w/ external safety vs DAO w/o an external safety). From my experience, I'd prefer the CW9. Take the $50 you save and buy a nice holster belt.
