Real problem with immigration......

Since 9-11 we have regularly kicked out a huge % the graduating engineers, and other STEM professionals from our own universities after their student visas expire. There was an article on huge number of Georgia Tech grads that were given diplomas, often with highest honors and then escorted to the airport years ago.
I used to have an employee to that worked in her spare time on getting high skilled work visas for Europeans and the total number allowed in the whole country was something like 30k. So we are essentially paying to educate people to go to Asia and China and destroy us economically. Brilliant.
Meanwhile the typical immigrants we have in the millions are illiterate (In both languages) non skilled manual laborers. (Hence, the reason some business and industry often oppose any immigration reform. It will increase labor cost)
If this makes any sense to you at all, please explain it to me.
Our immigration policy should be geared to generate the human capital our economy needs to compete and succeed. It is not. (And yes I am aware of the occasional critical need work visa that silicon valley get every year or so but that is the exception not the rule.) It is screwed up beyond belief and the fact that the parties can not work this out even when the Chamber and major business and industry are begging for it shows we are truly in death knell spiral to decline.
