As for the threat of Russia to the energy space, Boone commented on the country's sensitivity to oil-related GDP when he said, "To me, Russia is a poor country. They have a couple of assets, and that is it. I put oil and gas as one asset; the other asset is vodka. They don't export that, they drink it. They have one asset that provides for their GDP, and that's oil and gas. They can feel a 10 cent drop."

The rest of the article, his comments are bullshite IMV. And he's been the kiss of death lately with his comments and investments.

He was right one time and it made him very rich, but he's been very, very wrong many other times...using other people's money though.

If by miracle, Russia went "free" and there was a similar exploration and settling of Russia's land and natural resources from Moscow eastward as there was in America westward, Russia would obliterate the rise of America or China.

But it will never happen.

Amazing how freedom and individual self interest, when unleashed, can produce (or rape if you're of that shitty mindset).

I wonder if you realize how much of a wasteland you are talking about?

South Stream pipeline project was just shelved this morning. Will be interesting to see what happens considering Saipem has already sunk/invested a crap load of $$ in the project.

Russia to the east of Moscow is NOT a wasteland except for the part within or near the Arctic Circle. I've been to Siberia many times and it is a beautiful paradise during the summer, very similar to Alaska north of Anchorage except in Siberia you don't see the mountains or glaciers like you do in Alaska.

The virgin forests in Siberia are only slightly smaller than the continental U.S.A. in size.
