Looks like the Gamecocks may be in Duck Commander Bowl.

Is Shreveport a good trip?

You are going to get terrible responses here.

But having lived there a long time and now living down south you have to understand it is no NOLA. But if you know where to go and where to stay you can have a great time.

I thought so.

I have only driven through, don't know much about it.

Get a room at one of the better casinos and you can have a good time. Bars open till 6am and gambling 24-7.

I would encourage you to come visit. It has a cool down town, decent night life, lots of casinos, shopping, etc.

Shreveport blows Lafayette and Baton Rouge out of the water. It's no New Orleans but the Duck Commander is a solid bowl. There's a new Applebee's near the stadium too!

Not sure who you'll have with you but there's also a shopping area, good restaurants around. It's not Pasadena, but you can make it good trip with a nice resort hotel, food, etc.

Fair warning, if you act at all like the SC fans I encountered at the Gator Bowl in '86 and run around screaming "You can't beat our Cocks!", the police there will beat you senseless.

It is the Bible Belt and they aren't down with that stuff.

2Jons, Wine Country, Bella Fresca, Superior Steakhouse or Chianti for dinner and you have a good start to a friday night.

Shreveport is not nearly as uptight and conservative as it used to be. Over the last 20 years since the casinos came online, it has changed dramatically. Much more laid back.

It is what you make of it. The fun won't be screaming in your face but you can have a good time if you stay downtown at one of the casinos and hit up one of the restaurants mentioned in this thread.

I'll be making my yearly pilgrimage to the Indy Bowl this year, shame my Hoos shat the bed against Va Tech for the millionth time was hoping they'd end up in north louisiana.

Quick question.

Are you coming with a wife and kids, or a couple buddies?

Both groups will have fun, but there are different suggestions depending on what the makeup of your party is.

It can be a good trip but it all depends on where you stay and what you do. Stay downtown near the casinos and you'll have a good time.

I really liked the Remington, too.

If you are looking to blow it out, go to Mabry House. It is at least as good as every restaurant I've been to in New Orleans and Houston, and I've been to a lot of restaurants in both cities.

Superior Grill has surprisingly good Mexican food and Superior Steak House has damn good food, too. Anthony's is also excellent. Strawn's is the local place to eat brunch.

If you like gambling, casinos are there obviously. Otherwise, I don't really know what a tourist would do there on a random day. Maybe go check out one of the local breweries--Great Raft or Red River.
