The prospect of being able to quickly switch between Comcast and Xbone is intriguing. Also, the Comcast guide blows so Im hoping the One guide is an improvement. However, I dont have a Kinect so Im assuming I need an IR Blaster.

Anyone doing any of this? Is it worth the trouble?

I am running it without Kinect. I haven't purchased an IR blaster yet, but it is cheap and I'm not sure if there is any real down side to it.

Are you able to use the One Guide without the IR blaster? It seems weird to me that you need one given the fact that I can control HBO Go as well as the Xbox itself with the Harmony Remote....

Im gonna have to do some research.....maybe some of the issues I was running into last night was related to XBL being down.

No, because the Xbox cannot change the channel of your CATV box without the IR Blaster. It connects to your Xbox and is meant to point at an control your CATV box and others.

Once you set up One guide with the IR blaster you will probably be able to control it with the harmony.

I've tried running cable into my XBone, but since I'm with UVerse, I have a huge amount of issues.

I don't use the connect, pretty much gave up on voice commands. Using my remote was much easier.

For some reason XBONE degraded my picture quality. From what I read. My tivo box was not fully compatible with the system. That and for some reason my TV providers tv guide was not in the data base. After all that I gave up on the whole full integration aspect of the system. Maybe it has been fixed in a patch.

Eventually I'll give it another shot.

For some reason, my Xbone makes my picture better. Its hard to explain how, but before it was not nearly as clear.

I run my Uverse through the xbox, but I don't use any of the features and I never use the Kinect for anything besides signing me in by walking in front of it.

Yeah, I think it may have something to do with the HDMI cord I am using. I went from crappy component cables that I bought a long time ago to the HDMI cord that comes with the XBone. I think that may have something to do with it.

I had a bunch of issues with it, but I ended up changing HDMI cords and it works great now with my Comcast.

I have eatel for tv and no kinect

I use the eatel remote and change channels that way

I like it because it is just easier to switch between games and tv, etc.
