If the Saints drafted a Maurkice Pouncey type center in the FIRST round?

Not really, no. I'm not interested in the positional value in the draft. You go for the best talent in the draft that you need for your future. If the FO feels Center is the biggest position of need, then I'd have no problem with that. After all, it's their jobs on the line and not mine.

My mentality on the draft though is that they can probably wait out most of the interior OLine positions until the 3rd round though and go after a top prospect at CB in the 1st. Could probably go for some depth at OT in the 2nd. IMO, Strief's condition had the biggest hand in us losing the Cinci and Baltimore games.

No. Not at all. Our center has been dogshit since goodwin left the first time. Our interior oline is horrible and it is the second most important thing on this team.

1st we need Brees.

2nd we need to give him time to be Brees and Payton's plays time to develop and schemes to work.

I know we have a bunch invested in our guards, but whether they're playing hurt or aging fast or whatever they are not working out. Jahri Evans is a 31 year old playing hurt. So is Zach strief.

I wouldn't be the least bit upset if we drafted the best center available in round one and the best guard or tackle available in round 2. Of course if we trade Jimmy Graham for another 1st rounder we could get a C, G/T, and Linebacker/Corner all in the first 2 rounds.

Our defense i actually think will come out strong next year. They are a bunch of young guys who lost all 3 of their biggest locker room leaders and veterans this offseason. They're starting to work together. They just need someone to step up and lead. It looks like Jun-ya is trying to get in that role.

I agree with every single bit of this.

Maybe on the defensive unit as a whole. But on-field you need a LB or safety making adjustments for the coverages. Jenkins was really that guy for them the last couple of years.

No. Our center position is a weakness.

No, but I'd rather take a QB first and grab somebody like Nick Martin, Reese Dismukes, or Mike Matthews in the 2nd or 3rd round. But I wouldn't be upset if there is a sure fire first rounder at Center.

I completely agree that you need this. But that guy doesn't have to be the leader of the whole squad. And i would've though Lofton would step up. Pretty disappointing.

I meant on the defense as a whole. In the locker room, in practice, on the sidelines. The guy that gets them hyped and ready to play. Jenkins, Harper, and Vilma were the veteran leaders of this team. All 3 of them left, leaving a massive void in leadership and motivation this year. Couple that with injuries and youth and you get our defense this year. Who either looks like the best defense to wear the black and gold or worse than 2012 depending on the drive.

Nope. I wouldn't have been upset this past year, and I won't be upset for the upcoming draft. The longevity of Brees' career depends on him being protected, and right now we're getting killed up the middle.

Surprisingly,

I know this is fantasy football talk, but when I looked on yahoo sports this morning to check my team, I saw that NO has given up the 2nd fewest amount of points to TE's.

ETA: Meant to respond to Breesus

If we draft someone that can't compete with Lelito I'd be very disappointed.

I'm all for upgrading the center position, but i still don't think its a position in need of spending a First or a Second.

Not at all. We need 2-3 new guys in the middle unless Grubbs wants to restructure.

Even if he does want to restructure, may not be worth it

My thoughts exactly. Although, i would not be overly upset if the Center turned to be one of the better Centers in the game.

then we would have to pay stupid ridiculous money to keep a stellar CENTER around long term. Damn he's great, damn he sucks

QB in this first is not a good idea. The QBs in this draft aren't really that good besides Mariota. I'd prefer ILB in the 1st and C/OG in the 2nd/3rd

I wouldn't be upset. That's not bad value for pick 32.
