Will be going to this for the first time this week. Is it pretty boring or no?

I feel like i remember hearing stories on td.com that alot of booths had female models to attract attention, or that there are a bunch of hookers that come in town for it, or something along those lines.

Both true.

It's been years since I've been, but it was kind of boring. I wouldn't think this kind of event would bring in extra hookers.
Now I'm sure the Offshore Technology Conference or something like that in Houston would attract those skanks.

I'm sure some of the company parties/dinners are nice at the workboat show.

I have a big party to attend at Pat O's on Wednesday, a dinner at Commander's on Thursday, and a lunch at Brennan's on Friday. Workboat Show week is exhaustingly fun.

ETA: I MIGHT actually go to the show itself.

If you have a booth to work and are in sales it won't be too boring. The real fun though is the dinners and nightlife that usually accompany the show.

I make one pass on the main floor then go upstairs to one of the suites for lunch/party. Most of the time is spent in the Quarter at various parties and dinners.

No actual business gets done at the show...it's all about the party

Is the free food & drink upstairs available to all showgoers, or are they all private parties?

they are all private parties. In what capacity are you going to be there?

Some booths will be giving out free beer but dont expect the show itself to be a big party..it's kind of boring.

believe it or not, but the marine industry extends much further than just the O&G industry.

I work for a large local bank and we are getting pretty heavy into marine vessel financing. I personally am not working on any marine loans at the moment, so I don't have any issues with accepting whatever from the vendors.

We dont have a booth, so i'll just be walking around the floor thursday, then I'm signed up for some seminar around 5pm thursday.

Just an fyi...there are ZERO boat owners/operators that have booths at the show....those guys are walking around/hanging out in the bar rooms and hosting parties after the show.
