The number of people who cast their ballots early in Louisiana dropped off from the Nov. 4 primary election to the Dec. 6 runoff election in every statewide category except one: registered Republican voters.

About 85,900 registered Republicans took advantage of early voting for the Dec. 6 runoff, which was held during the week leading up Thanksgiving, as well as Saturday. That's almost 3,000 more than the number of people who voted early for the Nov. 4 election, and it amounts to a 4 percent bump in early voting overall from a month ago.

Your link also says there was a 25% decrease in early voting in Orleans Parish compared to the November election's early voting period.

Mary is toast.

A runoff is typically the kiss of death to a democrat.

Thy have a hard enough time getting their base to the polls one time in an election this big. It's nigh impossible doing it again a month later.

BTW, this comment is just awesome.

quote:

I recently asked my neighbor’s little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President, what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people. Her parents beamed with pride.

"Wow...what a worthy goal." I told her, "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work and you can pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."  Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

Wow. She's done. I early voted last Monday in BR at about 12:30 and was the only one there, which surprised me.
