Marvin Lewis just had a challenge that wasn't a challenge

Saw 12 men in the field, threw the challenge flag. They aren't reviewing this unless he did that. He was penalized for it, but it was clearly worth it. The rule that you can't challenge with under 2 minutes left is absurd.

Refs still missed it.

Bucs got screwed.

I don't get the logic that the Bucs got screwed. The result was the correct one. I wish refs used common sense more often.

Sorry you don't get it.

It is not difficult to understand.

When watching that I imagined what would've happened if Les Miles did something similar.

O/U 50 "Fire Miles" and "Miles is the dumbest coach in America" threads started in the 30 seconds before it worked out in their favor.

Did the penalties not cancel each other out? Or did they but it canceled out a good play from the Bucs?

The penalty for Cinci was losing a timeout.

Bucs didn't get screwed. Bengals almost did.

I thought it was delay of game to challenge a play that isn't challengable

It is challengeable from what I understand. But you can't challenge a call after 2 min warning.

Bucs clearly had 12 men on field.

I'm just confused how the Bengal benefited from throwing the flag. If they had timeouts left, why not just call one to give the replay booth more time instead of throwing the red flag?

It's my understanding that if they didn't have any timeouts they would've been given a 15 yd penalty

End result is the same, throwing the challenge flag just allowed Marvin to yell his case more at the head referee.

This is true. But there seems to be a huge flaw in the system when you have to have a timeout to get a review even though every play is supposed to be reviewed.

Lewis used the rule to his advantage....that's his job. They should have caught the 12 men on the field, but Lewis bringing it to their attention before the snap allowed them to review and catch their mistake.

Kudos for Lewis
