kid grew up so much this year and became a staple of this defense. His one on one open field tackles were great to see this year and he played like a Jr or Sr, the kid was fantastic and will be an absolute STUD the next few years. Just might be the best safety in the country after this year.

It's really impressive to see him contribute the way he has so much. LaRon Landry's freshman year was not as impressive as this young man's.

Even Landon Collins was unable to show the consistency and discipline to stick to assignments on the field that Adams has shown this year.

He's been the most impressive freshman safety I have seen since Sean Taylor. The only difference between their seasons is that Taylor shined against the smaller teams while Adams shined in the bigger match-ups. His talent reminds me of a combination of Reed and Taylor. If he turns out as great as either of those gentlemen, then he will have done well.

Y'all are some quick-reacting bastards around here who are so easy to forget about the achievements of past players.

As a freshman during the 2003 season, Landry:

1. Led a national championship-winning defense in tackles with 80
2. Had 3.5 TFL
3. Had 3 Sacks
4. Had 2 Interceptions
5. Had 4 Pass Break-Ups
6. Had 7 Quarterback Hits
7. Had 1 Blocked Kick

Comparatively, Jamaal Adams has:
1. 56 Total Tackles (6th on the team)
2. Has 3 TFL
3. Has 1 Sack
4. Has 0 Interceptions
5. Has 4 Pass Break-Ups
6. Has 0 Quarterback Hits
7. Has 0 Blocked Kicks

Do you think you want to reevaluate your previous statement before anointing this kid as the next Ed Reed?

Yep, I'm excited to see him and Ed Paris in the secondary. If we can get Kwon and Daniel to come back, our D will be stout next year.

Adams didn't start the year did he? Plus do your stats for Landry include the SECCG and the Natl Ch game?

What I'm getting at is if Adams only started 8 games, we might want to look at Landrys production his first 8 games.

Then the question becomes, which is more impressive? Producing on a Talent-rich team like 03 or a young and inexperienced team like this year?

True, Adams was worked into the starting group. We were deep at the safety spot and rotated alot this year, as to where Laron played full time

Dare I say it... I've had the same feeling watching him as a freshman as I did Mathieu. I doubt he'll take the ball and score as much, but the kid will be fun to watch

He will most likely be the best safety to come through this program if he keeps it up. Been saying since the preseason that he would take Mills spot at FS fairly early in the season and he did so. Still not sure how Mills is the number 2 ranked safety going into the draft by Kiper. I just dont see it. Misses lots of tackles and cant cover one on one. Freakish athlete though, which makes me wonder why he hasnt progressed over his time here at doing so. Changing to safety saved his chances at making it to the next level.

He made great improvement through the year. The first half of the year, he had no idea where he needed to be and blew numerous assignments. Seemingly all at once the light bulb came on and he made big play after big play while still playing his position. Many players that look like him are just head hunters and make many big plays but are often out of position.

No I don't want to re-evaluate it. I didn't say he was the next Ed Reed. I said his style of play reminds me a lot of both Ed Reed and Sean Taylor.

Not that you deserve much attention but the reason I made the comparison to those two is because of the similarities of the defenses that Miami of 2000-2006 run and the one that LSU runs today. Neither are similar at all schematically or with personnel to what LaRon was operating in under Saban.

Just look at the personnel. Chavis and Shannon had smaller, faster more athletic players that fly to the ball and do not blitz often at all. Whereas, Saban had large two-gap lineman, hulking LB's blitzing 60-70% of plays with the Safeties playing up and blitzing as well.

I am sorry that I had to spell that out for you to comprehend the differences in the comparisons. Other valid comparisons would be Eric Berry and Kenny Vacarro because of the scheme they play within.

Also...it's a little harder for Jamal to get on the field as a freshman when a guy like Ronald Martin in front of him. Comparing him to guys like Adrian Mayes is a little unfair...also, Jamal plays FS and in 2003 LaRon played strong. But the scheme differences were the key more than the position.

he might just be the next LSU defensive player to get invited to New York

hopefully he doesn't steal too many votes from Fournette

Would you also like to tell everyone how much better Justin Vincent is than Fournette? I mean using your logic...we should evaluate the "facts":

Fournette:
176 att
891 yds
8 TD's
7 rec 127 yds

Vincent:
154 att
1001 yds
10 TD's
8 rec 80 yds
