Text to iPad help

sup yall. picked up my father an ipad. I was hoping to be able to text him from my android to his ipad on his houses wifi. So far i am drawing a blank. Gmail used to allow it and now i see that is gone. Any ideas? Also, any cool apps you think he would like? he enjoys football and sports is most of what he does.

Try the Google voice app and set him up a GV #. If he's got an iphone you can forward texts to iPad on the native messages app using iOS 8.1.1

Whatsapp and Google hangouts should do what you need to do. Just have to set up accounts.

Google hangouts works great.
I use iMessage on my iPad, it syncs well. Also, I have noticed that some text messages show up on iPad also now, non iMessage

If he has an iPhone he can link it to his iPad under setting>messages>text message forwarding. Gotta have ios8 though
