My mom is picking up an ipad for my dad for christmas. Target has 16 GB iPad air 1's for $399 with $100 gift card.
Is the original iPad air still a pretty good product?

Air 2 does have twice the ram as the air 1, coupled with a $140 Tarjay GC. $60 more could future proof the device one more year vs last gen. Although your dad probably won't notice the increase in speed.
And looking at it -- you can get the Air 1 + GC today vs going black friday with the poors.
