What is a "pro-style" offense?

During the Saints MNF game, there was a stat listed that indicated that NFL teams have the QB under center something like 30% of the time. So can one say that LSU runs a pro-style offense in terms of the tendency to go from under center?

If your asking if we run Pro Style then yes.

Multiple formations and personnel groupings. Can line up in shotgun or under center. Elements of power football and a vertical passing game.

Not necessarily. You can read spread or pro style formations with this personnel grouping.

1 back. 1 TE. 3 WR
This is what I think when I see "pro set"
The pro game is evolving though.

Problem is we have elements of various offenses, which make mastering the playbook difficult.

You can still run spread plays and formations with that personnel. A&M will run some air raid plays with that personnel this weekend. Auburn will run some spread plays with that personnel this weekend.

The Saints are under center more than they are in the Shotgun.
Do the Saints not run a pro style offense?

It's an offense that Pro teams run.

The passing game in the NFL is a lot like the NBA. Find and exploit the one-on-one mismatch. If you don't have mismatch personnel then you have to scheme guys open. The formation and motion is going to dictate how you go about getting the mismatch. Shotgun vs under center doesn't really matter a lot in the passing game IMO, depends on what the QB is more comfortable with
