Ferguson PD Told Gun Store Owners and Pawn Shops to Remove Guns

Probably not a bad idea.

no, not at all

you'd be selling to the people who were going to turn around and loot you

it wasn't an order...I hope it wasn't.

I don’t think this “proves’ the grand jury will no-true-bill Officer Wilson; taking easily located stockpiles of guns away from the site of possible looting is the dictionary definition of common sense gun control. IMHO.

Sounds like a terrible idea to me. Why didnt they lock the door and defend their business instead of taking everything off the shelves. With the cops leaking this info to these owners, they insinuated that they werent going to do shite to control the looting.

you remove the want...I would have, I'd just still have mine

the stores who did this did so willingly it appears

ferguson p.d. made a request not an order. it's not gun control, it sounds like they gave business owners carte blanche protection from lawsuits...do I sell to this a-hole who is coming back to rob me (based on race, whatever I want because it's my business) or do I just face some discrimination lawsuit

Ferguson PD to the rescue

I dont think youre getting the root of this message. It's not about selling merchandise. The police didnt warn them for the sake of civil rights lawsuits. They warned them for the sake of not being a target for looters. Im saying that was a cop out and they should have met the protestors with violent resistance.

I know, I'm hypothesizing why they were happy to oblige...

ok, either way, do you want armed or unarmed looters?

the owners weren't forced, they were asked and it was mutually beneficial it seems

neither the owners or the police wanted armed looters

the owners and police are still armed

there are no laws against the government asking for a solid in a fricked up situation

in the end, no rights were infringed...technically, they just asked them to move their stock, not to stop selling...one is a byproduct of the other. And they asked, not ordered. Private sellers refused to sell firearms...totally legal

and gun store owners aren't really big into gun control, and they willingly complied...one instance, not illegal, hope this doesn't become a habit

and gun sales skyrocketed in the build up to this...so there was no shortage of product being moved

Shhhhh…

The real question here is why does anyone need a high capacity magazine?

I see no issue with this. It was common sense and protected both the store owner and people by making sure the looters couldn't get their hands on easy weapons, the owners couldn't be held liable, and he doesn't lose money to theft.

No rights infringed
