College Football Rankin Composite, November 22, 2014; Georgia 5th, LSU 21st

As I posted last week:
Basically this is an average of all the computer polls:
The first college football ranking comparison was published in 1995. It contained 5-10 ranking systems. Now that number has grown to nearly 100! David Wilson has categorized all college football rankings on the web, and maintains a list of links. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank him for his efforts, they are much appreciated.
The primary purpose of the ranking comparison is to present the large variety of rankings in an easily accessible and understood format. By displaying all the rankings in one web page, teams and rating systems may be easily compared with each other.
The comparison is open to any set of well developed computer generated ratings, as well as widely published national polls such as the AP or USA Today Coaches'. If you have a set of rankings that you think should be included, please let me know. (SpidermanTUBA?)
Here is the compilation of the polls with rankings
Anyway, these are just fun to look at sometimes, and I think many of you SEC lovers will agree wholeheartedly with these composite scores:
1 - Alabama
2 - Oregon
3 - Mississippi State
4 - TCU
5 - Georgia
6 - Florida State
7 - Baylor
8 - Ohio State
9 - UCLA
10 - Auburn
11 - Mississippi
12 - Michigan State
21 - LSU
Georgia moved up 4 spots to 5th from 9th with a win over Charleston Southern last week.

Did you lose an avi bet or are you just trying to troll the Rant undercover?

Even though this poll is meaningless, that is absurd.

I never go to the rant.

I would guess that it's computer polls bump for the win away at Arkansas since they moved up 10 spots and into most computer Top 25s.

That's still a huge bump this late in the year.
I have no idea what that happened.

I would guess the bump is largely due to many of these polls considering point differential and Arkansas' 30pt win over Ole Miss figuring very large for them since they didn't play Ole Miss not to mention the bump for the polls that now count Arkansas as a Top 25 away win.
It is a big jump in poll position but the difference in actual points isn't that great where they were very close to Ohio St, Baylor and FSU last week and still are.
Miss St actually had a much larger bump in average points than Georgia. UCLA had the largest it seems in the Top 15.

we also beat 9-2 missouri (ranked 17th here) 34-0 on the road. crushed auburn and clemson as well, who are ranked highly.
georgia actually has a pretty damn decent set of wins and would get even better with a win against tech on saturday.

I mean it's not a crazy computer ranking, just the large jump is crazy to me.
4 spots in a week after beating a cupcake.

I agree that it jumps out when you look at the overall rankings but Georgia, Ohio St, Baylor and FSU all had a mean between 7 and 8 and they still do. They are just so tightly clustered that the small Arkansas bump made the difference.
They're still so tight that any big W / L by a team on their schedule could mean a similar rearrangement next week.
The craziest thing in looking at those numbers is the deviation between FSU's rankings in the various polls. They read like #1 ... #32 ... #1 ... #28 and so on. . .

Yeah, Georgia has a pretty decent resume in terms of quality wins. I think if there are a couple of more upsets Georgia could pose an interesting case for the playoff committee's claim to weigh the overall amount of quality Ws highly.
If they win out they'll not only have wins over arguably FSU's best 2 opponents but Alabama and very decisive wins over Auburn, Missouri and Arkansas.
