Coworker wont be participating in the office(potluck) lunch tomorrow due to his religious beliefs stating thanksgiving is a pagan get together. Never heard of that one.

Your coworker may be interested to know that Christmas was originally an end-of-year orgy and debauch known as Saturnalia.

I know one of those peolpe and Thanksgiving is the only one of our Holidays that he celebrates. All the rest (Xmas, Easter, Halloween) are all Pagan and therefore do not exist.

We do not observe Christmas and Easter, which are also days set aside to worship God, so why is Thanksgiving different? The common reasoning is that Christmas and Easter are "pagan" holidays, and Thanksgiving is a secular national holiday.

I have. And there are some that make decent arguments as to why it is. I don't think it is but then again, I really don't give a shite.

He's one of those closed minded religious idiots. And I don't mean all religious people are idiots, but those who are so closed minded that they believe that anything that isn't celebrated in a church and only by members of that church is "the devil" are idiots. Make sure you remind him that Memorial Day and Independence Day and New Year Day are apparently all pagan also. Oh, and like someone said previously, ask him to explain about Xmas being on Dec 25. You'll get the freak to come out of him with that one.

If anything it is one of the most secular holidays along with the fourth of July that is widely celebrated in the US.
