Personally I think Mike Huckabee might be a perfect man for them!

I don't know who this guy is, but Reagan was a functional agnostic. He paid lip service to cultural Christianity for political purposes, but rarely got into specifics, did little to advance key items of their agenda like abortion restrictions, and his attendance at church services of any kind was very infrequent.

And Huckabee isn’t the only potential White House contender who has benefited from Lane’s organizational largesse. Last year, he took Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul to Israel and has another potential international excursion with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal in the works.

Chris Christie, the Catholic governor of New Jersey and likely 2016 presidential hopeful, turned down a recent invitation from Lane to lead a trip to Rome.

Good for him.

I think its worth noting that the religious right's rise to prominence was largely fueled by vast numbers of stay at home wives stuffing direct mail envelopes for little or no pay. Those direct mailings were enormously effective in the '80s and '90s and might still be the most effective way to reach the middle class elderly but the internet has dulled the spear considerably and will eventually kill that tactic completely.

As a Christian and a conservative, I would just like to tell the religious right or "Christian conservative" to freak off. Stop pissing ppl off by shoving your beliefs down their throat, just like you get pissed off when ppl shove their beliefs down your throat. Abortion and gay marriage are sins but guess what they not you have to answer for those sins, you have to answer to yours. The democrats would never ever win another national election if you left abortion and gay marriage and other religious issues out of out of it. That is all.

I agree with one caveat -- the left has been sticking its nose into social issues the past few years and someone needs to stand up to them. Forcing your values on others through government violence is wrong whether you're Rick Santorum or Sandra Fluke.

And proceeds to watch it die on arrival.

Mike Huckabee

If republicans want to nominate a candidate that will shrink the base even further and drive more and more independents to the democrats, Huckabee is the perfect candidate to do just that.
