It's still a bit premature to say that at the end of the year it will be a "bad" loss. Certainly no one though LSU's win vs. SJU last season was going to be as "good" of a win as it ended up being. In fact, everyone though the win over Butler was going to be a good win (It wasn't). Time will tell.

But the fact of the matter is that LSU can't afford to lose many OOC games, period. If they can get a win today, then the only OOC game they won't be favored in the rest of the way will be at WVU. Get a win today and next Tues. and the season is still on track heading into SEC play

The league is BAD. We have a room for very little error OOC schedule.

This needs to be broken down a bit further for the slow people around here.

Mizzou: 2-1 with a loss to Missouri-KC
AU: 2-1, blown out at Colorado (and CU got housed at Wyoming)
USC: 2-3 with losses to Baylor, Charlotte, and Akron
aTm: 3-1 with a loss to Dayton
OM: 3-1 with a loss to Charl.Sou.
Tenn: 1-1 blown out by VCU (they're good though)

You obviously don't follow much basketball.

I know enough to know that no team's tourny hopes can be dashed in game #4. If LSU loses to ODU and Clemson and goes 14-4 or 15-3 in the SEC, they are almost definitely in the NCAAT. it is an overreaction.

It doesn't matter.
The only good that will come from this tournament is playing ACC Clemson to get that schedule strength bump from Clemson's opponents.
Win, lose or draw the only team in this tourney worth playing for LSU RPI is Clemson even in the losers' bracket.

not even close to true. playing seton hall in the championship game would have helped a lot.

It would be nice to beat an ACC team like Clemson, as their RPI should be decent by default. If we are on the bubble, it may come into play. Finish 3rd in the SEC and it won't matter. We will be in. Anything below 3rd and it becomes a craps shoot.

Yes and Weber State gave ISU a much better game than they gave LSU. Clemson lost to GW whom LSU already defeated. This is all small-sample size. Can't tell the real value of these games until late in the season after things play out. Do agree that the Tigers need this Clemson game to view this tourney as a stepping stone.

I don't see a point. It's likely none of those teams will even make the tourney maybe one of them, 2 I highly doubt it.

The SEC this year is what it has traditionally been throughout it's history: Kentucky and then everybody else.

3 bids this year. 4 max.

This game isn't a must win to make it in the tourney, but it's pretty damned important with our weak in conference schedule. We'll only play 2 ranked teams this entire year.

Pretty sure his point is these are teams we play in conference. That have already suffered some really bad OOC losses. We wont be getting a bump from our SEC slate.

It's not hard to look at LSU and realize their ceiling this year is bubble team. These types of losses mostly certainly will factor in come selection time.

Unless one of those 14 or 15 wins is Kentucky and we have bad OOC losses, we aren't getting in.

What does this have to do with anything? 2 of those teams at best will make the tourney and Dayton made it to the sweet 16 last year so that's not a bad loss.

road games really count to the committee so curb stomping west Virginia will make up for old dominion loss. beat Massachusetts and the committee will say "yawn, home game"
