First album was great. Really cool sound.

2nd is pretty meh with some good highlights and some shitty lowlights.

I've only heard the first one, it was fantastic.

Hope I like the second just as much.

Innovative first album. Second album was pretty disappointing in my opinion. Loss of bassist had to have been a big factor, or they just were rushed by label.

Was excited to see them at HoB w Lord Huron, who upstaged them. Going to pass on them at Civic in 2 weeks.

Breezeblocks and Tesselate are both solid.

I think they are turrible. But a lot of my friends seem to like them and went to a show of theirs last year

I was not a fan of the schizophrenic songs on the first album. Some of the melodies were catchy but the songs seemed like the band stuffed 5 different song ideas into one and tried to make them mesh. Also their lyrics are turrible. For every single song. But especially Fitzpleasure.

I appreciated that the second album's songs weren't so jumbled, but the lyrics were still awful and the songs were just meh. Also Left Hand Free is very out of place on the album and an obvious attempt at just making a hit single

I've laugh in a couple people's face when they said alt-j was gonna be the next Radiohead and think they're mediocre at best.

It's a 180 from Breezeblocks; which is an awesome song with matching music video.

I saw them in Houston a couple weeks ago. I was really impressed, but they only played for an hour and fifteen minutes. One set and a two song encore, pretty disappointing.

they basically did it as a joke. they created a very simple, catchy pop song for the radio. naturally, it worked. but even the rest of the songs from the second album aren't that great. Their sound lacks without Sainsbury.
