I heard one talking head this morning say that the GJ actually has until Jan. 7 to reach a decision.

Can you just imagine this crap for another six weeks?

Yeah, the judge extended their term until January. And from the sound of it... I could be totally wrong here, this is the only case they are working on.

Their term was supposed to end in Sept, the judge extended it two months to take on this case and then used another 60 day extension to push it into January.

Wow. So they may (may) have already arrived at a decision, but will not release it for another two months.

Interesting.

Doubtful... I think there would be an uproar from the GJ if they were having to go and sit for nothing.

IF the Judge/DA are trying to stall, I would imagine they are slow leaking bits of evidence in order to draw it out. No way I see the GJ sitting there and being part of the delay on purpose.

I, for one, will be pissed if it takes another two months. I'm ready for some action.

Perhaps this is the only one that is still pending. There is only one GJ at a time - if their term is extended, they would be available to hear anything else the DA wants to put in front of them until their term expires.

If they did extend the term, this is part of their long-term, slowplay strategy - perhaps they're now waiting for one more significant weather event to drop the announcement. I don't seriously question that the evidence has been presented and the GJ has reached a conclusion, even if they haven't formalized it yet.

This is being played out in a strange, slow-motion way. I still believe it is a smart strategy, overall, but they may have bottomed out - continued delay will start to look suspicious and allow the other side to ramp things back up again.

Sigh. You are probably right. Wish I was not so cynical.

Seems to me they already have a decision but are working with the cops and local community organizers to figure out what/when is the best time to go public.

They are damned if they do and damned if they don't in this case b/c you can't argue with irrational people.
