Anyone deal with Femoral Acetabular Impingement?

Been having rapidly progressive pain and major loss of range of motion in my right leg due to sharp pinching pain deep in the hip joint.
MRI has confirmed congenital hip dysplasia, FAI, and acetabular labral tear as well as osteoarthritis due to the mis-shaped bones in the hip joint wearing down the cartilage over time.
I am only 38 and 2 docs say hip arthroscopy is my best course of action to avoid early hip replacement. I have read that there is disagreement in the orthopedic community of the long term effectiveness of this procedure especially in younger patients, but they are pushing for my hip to be scoped. Hip arthroscopy is simply not nearly as commonplace as knee scopes.
I have a final referral with Dr. Rodriguez at the BR orthopedic clinic on Wednesday who apparently is faily well experienced with this procedure. The other part is the rehab and recovery can be lengthy depending upon how much they have to repair once they see with eyes on the problems.

Well it seems like surgery is in your future no matter which route you want to take, scope to get rid of debris since it's probably causing the impingement. I mean this has to be interrupting your sex life, do you even sex bro?

So you started a thread to tell us you have a doctor's appointment?

I work at SSC and Rod does at least one hip scope there a week. Don't know if he does them anywhere else in town. I don't think anyone else in that group is doing them.

How long have you had the pain? The reason I ask is because I have alot of pain in my hip from time to time and I'm just wondering if this is what you had then it got worse.

Hip pain can be caused by many different things. My pain is specific to the joint in the front/groin for the worst of the sharp pinching pain that knocks you off your feet. That is when my leg is extended outward even just a little. I also have lower back pain and radiating pain through the backs of my legs due to this.
Some people just tear their labrum. Some have impingement. Some have both. Some have dysplasia. I have all of the above. My hip was popping wildly before the pain ever surfaced about a year or two ago, but absent pain I simply ignored it. Probably not the wisest move on my part.
If you have any lingering pain in the hip, go let an orthopedic doc check you out. It may be simple arthritis or something more serious. I certainly wasn't prepared for all of this.
