Good theory. Probably makes the most sense, since that "McMahon vs. Triple H for control" thing was a storyline tossed around even as far back as Summerslam 2013 (even though this is an indirect version of that).

JBL told me that a PPV is just like the Super Bowl so I invited all of my friends over to my house tonight!

Kinda where my brain was.
It would imply that the WWE would hearken back to something that occurred for consistency, so it's basically like asking for a miracle, but hey.

He can't just fire his COO and a principal owner willy nilly without some sort of "sign off" or consent from the rest of the board. This way it comes off more legitimate rather than straight up firing them and having to answer to the board.
