I don't think some of you understand what he's saying.

He's saying the gunners should be able to run down and catch the punt on the fly and the punting team gets the ball where he catches it.

Or hell, why not just let him take it all the way for a TD.

Might as well just punt on 1st down.

Why does a punter get yardage credit from line of scrimmage, but FG kicker gets yardage credit from placement?

Punters take amounts different steps.

It's clear where the ball is placed for a FG.

No, I got it. So everyone will just start punting it sky high and we'll see which team can jump the highest? Because you'll just have jump ball situations like in basketball.

I don't get how this means he didn't understand it? OP says it should be a reception (as in pass reception), so he said passes are thrown, not kicked.
