The cop in question:

But seriously: this is fricking horrible and anyone defending a cop for shooting a TWELVE year old that was reported to have a "probably fake" gun deserves to rot in Hell.

cops are just idiots...if you have to shoot and kill a 12 year old kid because he pulls out a toy gun, you have no business having a real gun... I never cease to be amazed at the stupidity of the public (this thread for example) who can't see what idiots cops have become....

I'm no cop lover by a long shot but with the info we have your response is just short sighted and idiotic.

I guess you didn't read the posts on page 2 ? Also, how long have you been a peace officer ? You do know there are some 12 year olds that are 6' tall and could pass for 16 ? Your reaction that the cop was wrong is based off your assumption that this was some babyface 4'10'' child with a supersoaker jumping in a ball pit at Chuck E Cheese.

It is horrible but with the info given how can you make such a stupid statement. I know several 12 year olds that are 5'6" and taller. It's not like he had a hat on that says don't shoot I'm 12 and this is a toy. If someone draws on me and the gun looks real I'm firing.

That could easily pass as real, especially if you're looking down the barrel.

Next, "An attorney for the family said..." So this family ran straight out and got a lawyer. frick me and this society. Sue, Sue, sue, profit.
Is this a serious post?

When your 12 year old kid is shot and died, you should get an attorney every single time, no exceptions. I hope you're joking lol.

Amazing how we've gone from the standard cop catchall reason for shooting someone of "he was reaching for a weapon" or "he made a move for a gun" to now the kid was pointing his BB gun at the cops in a threatening manner before he got shot.

Story is fricked up enough without exaggerating what happened:

Concerned citizen called 911 about a boy on the playground with a gun and stated "...probably fake, but it’s scaring the shite out of me.”

Why he didn't just ask the kid if it was real or not is beyond me...

Cops respond.

Tell kid to either drop the gun or raise his hands. Stories conflict here.

Kid makes a "movement" towards the gun.

Cops shoot kid at least twice wounding him in the stomach and torso.

Kid dies the next day at the hospital.

I've never seen a convincing story that this was true.

Convincing story? A police department went to the Supreme Court to defend their right to not hire applicants that scored too high on the Wonderlic portion of the entrance exam because, "They would find police work too dull and move on to another field."

I am extremely intelligent(compared to dumbass Pig standards), a CPA, and confirmed cop basher on here. If I was with my kids at a playground and saw a kid with that gun posted in this thread and he made a move for it after I told him to put it down, he would have been shot as well. Now more may come out in this story, but I am amazed by how many people are blaming the cops with the info we have now. It is truly scary

Fuuuuuuuuuck off with this bullshite union-concocted asinine title. I'm not a lawyer, I'm a judgment fighter [hand wank]. You're a POLICE officer. You police the streets. What part about shooting an unarmed 7th grader is peaceful? Please tell me what the average officer does on a daily basis to ensure peace?

A lot of blacks already have their wisdom teen at 10. its hard to tell ho old they are sometimes and there is a bias because we ever see/read in the news is young black males committing atrocities. its tragic but i can't blame the cops.

He was not unarmed. He was armed with a replica firearm with the safety markings removed. Dumbass.

The orange safety indicator had been removed from the barrel.

My friend did this to an air soft gun when we were in middle school. One day he left it out in the yard and a police officer saw it while he was driving down the street. Told my friend's mom that without the orange indicator they can't tell what it is and its illegal to remove the orange.

Sucks for the kid and his family but this isn't the police officer's fault.

Since there was no way to know what grade he was in or to know that the gun was fake I would say the officer got to go home to his peaceful family .. although tortured for the rest of his life.

BTW, FIFY.

Cops simply aren't smart enough to handle anything. If you can't handle a situation with a 12 year old kid, you are too stupid to do anything.

If the cop in the Gulfport thread LINK would have played it a little safer maybe he wouldn't have ended up in the hospital.

Should we link you (again) to the numerous stories of 12 year olds shooting and killing people?
