Shoe shine tip?

I had three pair of boots cleaned and shined from a man that has his own chair. He quoted me a price and I picked them up later. Paid what he quoted but it was obvious he was looking for a tip. Didn't tip because it is his business. Was I wrong? Seems like everybody is looking for a tip these days.

well, in some businesses (i.e. shoe shine, valet, etc.) it is pretty much understood that you will tip...

It was a couple of hours. BTW he charged 45 for the three pair that I thought was pretty steep to begin with.

Yes you are supposed to tip a shoe shine guy you dumbass. 
And I don't understand why so many people start threads on here asking about tips. The young, poor, and uneducated don't know shite about tipping, but they like to respond the most in these kind of threads.

I think he saw the cheap arse coming and decided to hide his tip in the invoice. I think I pay $5 a pair at Millitellos, get a couple done at a time and give him $5 tip.

Well frick it. It's his own damn chair. If he wanted more then just charge more. 45 for about an hours worth of work was pretty good money.
