Strategy?

The first thing they did was to signal no use of their constitutional impeachment or budget powers.

This is like telling the enemy that you are about to meet them on the battlefield but we are leaving our tanks and planes at home.

Dude, even if you don't plan on using that stuff, at the very least you should keep it on the table.

Stupid.

Exactly. Reid won't let anything pass. Obama wants a bill give him a bill the day after republicans take control of both houses.

Because Dems are stupid too. And the biggest problem was Obama was soft and tried to compromise too much.

I don't think you understand, that we have an immigration law in place that works. We aren't enforcing it. That is the reason there is any crisis. Lack of enforcement of the current laws. Let me pull it up for you.

Immigration and Nationalization Act of 1952

quote:

The Act abolished racial restrictions found in United States immigration and naturalization statutes going back to the Naturalization Act of 1790, which had limited naturalization to immigrants who were "free white persons" of "good moral character." The 1952 Act retained a quota system for nationalities and regions. Eventually, the Act established a preference system which determined which ethnic groups were desirable immigrants and placed great importance on labor qualifications.

The Act defined three types of immigrants: immigrants with special skills or relatives of U.S. citizens who were exempt from quotas and who were to be admitted without restrictions; average immigrants whose numbers were not supposed to exceed 270,000 per year; and refugees.

The Act allowed the government to deport immigrants or naturalized citizens engaged in subversive activities and also allowed the barring of suspected subversives from entering the country. It was used to bar members and former members and "fellow travelers" of the Communist Party from entry into the United States, even those who had not been associated with the party for decades.

It expanded the definition of the "United States" for nationality purposes, which already included Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands to add Guam. Persons born in these territories on or after December 24, 1952 acquire U.S. citizenship at birth on the same terms as persons born in other parts of the United States.[5]

quote:

The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 requires an alien to apply for a petition for naturalization. This form may be obtained from any office of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, a division of the Department of Justice, or from any court authorized to naturalize aliens.

Before applying, an alien must be at least 18 years old and must have been lawfully admitted to live permanently in the United States. He must have lived in the United States for five years and for the last six months in the state where he seeks to be naturalized. In some cases, he need only have lived three years in the United States. He must be of good moral character and "attached to the principles of the Constitution". The law states that an alien is not of good moral character if he is a drunkard, has committed adultery, has more than one wife, makes his living by gambling, has lied to the Immigration and Naturalization Service, has been in jail more than 180 days for any reason during his five years in the United States, or is a convicted murderer.

Anyone care to guess why we are restricted to 270,000 a year? Or why there are restrictions on how many can come into the US?

Because you have to be able to manage the population growth so the economy does not crash. You also must be able to know who is coming into your country and conduct proper screenings. This also helps the immigrants assimilate to the country.

And that's something the left doesn't want. Assimilation. It's one thing to show pride in where you come from, and to keep your identity, but it's another thing to just become a citizen by process, but do nothing to become a part of that culture.

Also, another thing the left hates, is when the subject of speaking English is brought up. This country is an English as 1st language, speaking country. By not requiring immigrants to learn English, you are basically ensuring them poverty. An immigrant who can not speak English will never rise above general labor. It is a fact.

Obama has completely subverted this law in 1 Executive Edict.

For a fairly intelligent person, you say some incredibly stupid things.

You're above this.

That genius was directly responsible for the slaughter on Nov 4 but thought he would have more success governing with fewer Dems in D.C.....interesting strategy.......he can do more with less.

From my little time study all this
Seems the GOP does dropped political gifts

But Obama had it all too
Obama had probably one of the friendliest media environments ever, Obama had full control, and had all the momentum in back in 2008. He choose division, he gambled thinking he could sway Americans to the radical left way of thinking, his thinking the Dems would still keep the Senate carried his governing ways, and it seems Obama just couldn't help himself with the power he was given when the time came to work with others. Unfortunately Obama is nothing but politics, and that's a good thing in some situations, but one can't let it control every decision one makes for our Country. Thsi might be Obama's biggest hurtle for him saving this terrible presidential legacy he got right now. There's one thing I can think of that would change everyone's mind on Obama. Or at least make them think serious about what has all taken place under Obama. All it would take is one brilliant speech at the end of his Presidency and we'd have a pretty historical moment probably. Whether the speech would be true or not true really wouldn't matter either. Thsi speech would still have much weight on everyone's thoughts on what Obama has done over 8 years. But that's a whole other long scattered brained post I'll save you all from ......lol

Seems both parties jsut can't help themselves when their given an advantage or power. Our founders didn't get everything right, but they understood human nature concerning abusing power. Now it helped our founders had thousands of years of examples with humans nature with how some handled powerful governmental powers. Shoot we have to go no further than a classroom to learn that lesson though. When a teacher leaves a student in charge of a classroom while leaving for a bit. Every one of those students will handle that power given to them differently when the teacher finally leaves. Some students will let others be, some wil force other students to do what they want, some will ask nicely to do this, some won't be so nice about things, some will only intervene when necessary, some won't. Some students would lie & spin to explain their actions to other students. Some would be truthful to why they're doing what they're doing to the students. There's other examples of what those students could and would do with that given power, but I hope I made my point understandable.

Now some say Obama holds much responsibility for the Democrats losing a record number of seats over 4 year period. Plus, havign Republican Governors elected in states that never elected a Republican Governors in their History. Was very telling and those Democrat Governor loses is the most telling story of how bad the elections where for Democrats.

My point in all this above is both parties overstep their bounds, and dropped the ball when gifted great power & trust.
