where's all the usual turkey talk?

i'm doing 3 this year - one each fried, smoked, and boiled. smoked on pecan, boiled a la the nola.com story from last week.

i used to inject my fried turkeys but gave up years ago when i determined the flavor isn't worth the effort. fried bird with good rub is good. only brined bird i ever had was by this yankee who used his portuguese grandmother's recipe, and it was hands down the worst turkey i've ever had.

haven't smoked a bird in several years, but never brined or injected birds before smoking before.

boiled is boiled. i don't see any need to do anything there.

brines? injections? worthwhile? no? go!
