Yes. I spent the day furiously masturbating to an endless stream of Black Friday commercials.

Use to do every other, enjoyed it but as you get older it is nice to be around friends.

Hell no. I love Thanksgiving and my family (or my wife's family in the case of this year). Get off work to eat a bunch of food, drink alcohol all day, hang out with family, AND not have to exchange gifts? Sign me up.

what did you do when you decided to do this?

I will be around friends at the bar but just opting out of the whole family thing that day

I used to do that. I was the only member of my family that didn't live in TN, and I hated traveling during Thanksgiving. I'd deliver lunches to people and then go have some drinks with friends that night. I'm also not a fan on Thanksgiving food, so it wasn't easy to miss.

I could understand for those whose family situations just stress them out. In my case I don't want to ever spend a Thanksgiving away from family.

I did it the past 3 years. I drank with the bartenders at Lafitte's. Good times.

my family\extended family do not do anything formal like sit downs or anything. We drink and make plates when you get hungry.

choice or because you don't live near family?

Sounds depressing. Thanksgiving is my favorite day of the year.

Moved to Chicago around Thanksgiving of 1987. Spent the holiday alone in a downtown hotel, which really sucked. Until I met a broad staying there on business; we hooked up and had a traditional Thanksgiving feasting on cocaine, booze, sex and room service.

Now spend it mostly with friends but years ago would grab my favorite foods and drink and just bunker in with movies. It was a recharging ritual.

2 years ago. Met a chick that was away from home too. Banged all afternoon and then ate turkey pot pies in bed.

That sounds much better than Thanksgiving with my family. No booze and an endless discussion of how the liberals want to take their guns.

You'll miss your family when they're dead & gone. You may not want to put up with the family hassle during the holidays now because you're selfish, but you'll regret it years from now.

I hate traveling over t-giving, so i rarely see family.

I like the holiday, much better than christmas but just the way the travel days line up its like $600 a ticket and if I wait and not travel over t-giving, its $300.

I would say every third year we go somewhere. This year we will be having tgiving at a friends house. Honestly the food will be better than any of our families tgiving. Company will probably be better too. And the booze.

Plus no airport delays!

Just me and the beagle this TDay. Wife is going to visit her mom and brother and brother's in-laws. Too much disconnect there for me.

Beagle has decided on ham salad for us. She knows the turkey will come a month later.
