The wife and I went to Hawaii last December and found love in food form at a particular restaurant, Monkeypod Kitchen. More specifically, the seared ahi tuna melt. Tuna is everywhere there so they cook it in ways we never would. Here is our attempt.
Tuna steaks
Cut them in half
Toast some rye bread, they make their bread in house...well I didn't.
They also have some garlic truffle oil fries. I have no truffle oil so we did a take on it. Some olive oil, greek seasoning, and feta cheese.
Sear that tuna, not long 15-30 seconds per side.
The other side
Add lettuce, they use locally grown bib lettuce. Locally grown tomato. Gruyere cheese, I used munster. Thousand island dressing.
Shameless bump to add their menu.
