I'm still on the parents family plan through ATT. My mom is available for an upgrade whereas my doesn't come until February. My phone is in it's last leg so she is letting me use her upgrade. Can my mom order the phone with upgrade through ATT.com and have it shipped to their house...then I take the phone into an AT&T store to have them activate it with my SIM card? Not sure how it would work.

I'm not sure that you can't just switch the sim cards and it will activate itself

I'm not 100% on that, but I don't think a trip to the store is required

You don't have to go to the store. You can just pop the sim in. If that doesn't work, just call the 411 number or whatever and activate it that way to save yourself a trip.

Just take your mom to lunch one day and go by the att store together.

Sign into online account. Click upgrade next to your number. Next screen click use other member's upgrade, select to use the upgrade available to your mom's number, order phone and ship to your address. Phone arrives in mail with new SIM card already in phone. Turn on phone and follow instructions that come with the package to activate. Done.

Yes, if you're on a shared plan for sure. Done it several times.
