Do delusional Arky fans really think they're our biggest rival?

Before I went into the stadium Saturday night (and I am seriously not making this up), an Arky fan "informed" me that LSU-Arkansas is one of the biggest rivalries in the country. He then asked me if I agreed. Obviously, I was left speechless while trying to keep my brain from exploding, so he starting talking again before I could dignify his question with a response. He then went on to concede that Bama-Auburn just "might" have a slightly bigger rivalry than LSU-Arky, but ours is a close second. Again, I am not making this up nor hyperbolizing the details of the conversation. The guy wasn't drunk, and he was dead serious.

I readily admit I have not taken a scientific poll of the Arkansas fan base. I also admit that one fan does not represent an accurate cross section of Pig Nation; but I believe they may really believe this.

It gets worse. Some idiot gump posted this question on the SEC Rant: Is Arkansas LSU a better "rivalry" than Bama LSU? I am fine with asking the question, but the responses to the post astound me.

A made up trophy does not a rivalry make. No one at LSU ever gets pumped up for the Arky game. It's an afterthought, honestly, which is part of the problem. I do think LSU needs to take the game more seriously; however, if Arky fans really think they are our biggest rivals, I feel embarrassed for them.

When I informed the Erotomaniac Piggy that I didn't share his feelings, he asked me, in a sarcastic attempt to beg the question, who our biggest rival is.

In college football, some rivalries are fluid, while others are historic. Taken into consideration both the historical and current state of our program, I would rank them this way:

1. Bama
2. Ole Miss
3. Florida
4. Auburn
5. TexAgs
6. Arky

Did anyone else encounter the same? How would you rank our "rivals"?

Iffy on whether or not Auburn is higher than Florida - just because of the stakes (SEC-W) and how close the games have been for over a quarter century. But, otherwise, I agree and the LSU-Arky rivalry is a 100% manufactured one by CBS. I laugh at the "boot" every year, whether we win or lose.

honestly...they kinda are

Bama, Ole Miss, Florida, Auburn, Aggies...they all have bigger rivals than LSU, so they can't be our biggest rival because we are not their biggest

Yeah, they really hate LSU (I live in NWA and feel the hate quite often).

It's nice to consider this a one-way rivalry, but that only works when we win.

They tend to give Les Miles a headache/trap game/close game every year so... yeah I guess.

We really, really need to swap Auburn and Missouri, east and west. Arkansas and Missouri would be naturals.

I think A&M becomes LSU's true rival.

I think Arkansas is more of a rival in baseball, rather than football. That's the problem, is that most LSU fans are kind of impartial towards them in football.

I think this will happen eventually but due to additional conference expansion. I still think 16 team conferences will be an inevitable result of the CFB Playoff. Eventually, the playoff will expand to 8 or 12 teams. Conferences will then expand to 16 teams. Big 12 will disappear and the SEC will pick up two teams like OU and OSU. Eight team divisions, Auburn to the east. It's a money thing.

There is no other team than LSU that the piggies would rather beat. A player was interviewed and he said the team could go 1-11 as long as their only win was LSU.

So the Hogs biggest rival is LSU but the biggest rival for LSU is not the Hogs. I would rank them below Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Auburn in that order.

They're never going to split up Bama and Auburn. Bama is not going to let their cross-division permanent rival be dicted by realignment and they're not giving up the Iron Bowl - LSU would go to the SEC-East first.

that's probably correct although i might switch AU and UF (especially currently) and expect A&M to move up that list in the future. but that's me answering for the fans in general. personally, i hate bama first, A&M 2nd.

I see no difference in Ark fans thinking LSU is their rival and LSU fans thinking Bama is its rival. We don't think Ark is our rival and Bama doesn't think of us as their rival.

The reality is LSU no longer has a true rival since the Tulane days. You can make an argument for Ole Miss but I don't think it's the same as it use to be.

Since they have came in the SEC we are to them . We have more history in the SEC than they do. PLUS The Texarkana border yes they butt up against the Vols . But who want to claim The Vols ??
