Android newbie here, just got a Nexus 4, will I get Lollipop on it?

Got it for $149 on Groupon. Thought it was a decent deal.
What are some of the things to keep in mind when making the switch from an iPhone? Any tips to help with the battery life (I heard it isn't great on the Nexus 4). Also, I will be using the phoone on AT&T.....is there any way to get LTE on it without rooting/flashing? I don't have the time to mess around with all that.

That's a 2 year old phone, you would have been better off waiting and seeing if the Nexus 5 black friday rumors are true and getting a Nexus 5 for possibly 199-249.
You can't get LTE even with root, the Nexus 4 only has Band 4 LTE, and very very few AT&T markets use band 4. You'll be on HSPA+ pretty much full time.

But aren't those deals limited quantities? Most of the time I find they are gone within a few minutes.

Thanks. Any idea if it will improve the battery life some?

Doubt it, the Nexus 6 is just now shipping out, so the Nexus 5 won't see much action. There will be plenty and probably won't ever sell out completely.

T-Mobile on the other hand is a different story. LTE works great on n4.

Nah. Those n4s are fricking awesome. Stop hating. I have 2 in our household and $149 is a decent deal.

Correct, T-Mobile uses Band 4 in every single market. AT&T uses it in pretty much none.

I would just never buy a 2 year old phone, I loved my N4 though. But if the black friday N5 rumors are true and they're going to be 199-249, even better deal for a much much better phone and LTE everywhere on every GSM carrier.

Is the battery life and camera performance as bad as people make it out to be, or is it just exaggeration? Have you installed Lollilop on your Nexus 4s? Has it given the phones a new lease of life? Any improvement in battery life with Android 5.0 on the N4?

I haven't even gotten Lollipop on my N5

They roll out in phases, or you could just update it yourself it's not hard.

i still have my N4. Pushed the 5.0 update zip via adb last night, and working just fine.
the OTA to 5.0 should roll around soon, looks like some people in india are getting it already.

I put Lollipop on my N4 Saturday. I got around 4 hours of screen on time yesterday on Wi-Fi all day(mostly Reddit,Chrome, XDA). I haven't messed with the camera, but I don't expect much improvement, if any. Lollipop is really slick, though.

I actually just ordered a nexus 4 nexus 7 (2012) combo on expansys for $189. Phone will be a back up and the tablet will just be for light use. Thought it was a good deal.

Definitely a good deal. The phone is still really solid and has great dev support.

My experience w/ ATT updates is they slow the phone way down. I have updated 2 phones over the years and both were crap after the updates.
